How the organisation is run

Pioneers ICT is directed by a Senior Management Team with defined functional responsibility. Named individuals, roles and photographs are published on our team page — we do not operate behind an anonymous "management" label.

Safeguarding

Protecting the people in our programmes

Our programmes reach young people, women, and persons with disabilities — including participants who may be vulnerable. Safeguarding is assigned to a named individual, not treated as a shared responsibility that belongs to nobody.

A Designated Safeguarding Lead

Jamila Indabawa holds the Designated Safeguarding Lead role on our Senior Management Team, with responsibility for safeguarding policy, staff awareness, and handling any concern raised by a participant, staff member or partner.

Reporting a concern

Any participant, family member, staff member or partner can raise a safeguarding concern directly by contacting us, marking the message for the Designated Safeguarding Lead. Concerns are treated seriously and confidentially.

Programme partner standards

Where we deliver under a national programme framework — including GATEWAY, IDEAS/IGF and TVET — we operate within that programme's own safeguarding and inclusion requirements in addition to our own.

Written policy

Our full written safeguarding policy is being prepared for publication here. In the interim it is available to programme partners and prospective funders on request.

Accountability

What we commit to

These are operating commitments, not aspirations. They describe how we already work, and how a partner can hold us to it.

Accurate reporting over favourable reporting

We publish figures we can trace to a dated, individual record. Where a figure is still being verified we say so rather than publishing an estimate — including on this website, where our current programme cohort figures are marked as in verification rather than rounded up.

Data protection for participants

Participant records are held in systems we operate directly. We do not sell participant data, and personal information is shared with a programme partner only where the programme framework requires it.

Inclusion by design

Programmes are built for women, youth and persons with disabilities from the outset rather than adapted afterwards. Participation across these groups is tracked as a programme metric.

Separation of commercial and programme work

Pioneers runs commercial services and incubated ventures alongside funded programme delivery. Programme resources and commercial activity are accounted for separately, and we are glad to walk a funder through that separation.

Open to verification

Prospective partners are welcome to visit the Kano facility, meet the delivery team, and review our monitoring systems directly. We would rather be checked than take offence at being checked.
